My Voice Forced Out explores the plasticity of voice, out of the body. The installation comprises a series of three-dimensional prints of my voice, VoiceScapes, along with audiovisuals that reveal the metamorphic process within the 3D engine prior to 3D printing. The voice is an invisible, amorphous and impermanent matter whose vibrating particles collide, carried out by the medium of air, yet its sound waves remain elusive. Can we understand the voice better when we can touch it? Can we grasp how it fluctuates, breathes, its living and dynamic quality? I applied motion graphics to audio to create a haptic voice: a voice that can be touched. The result is a topographical arrangement of the disembodied voice, woven from the printing filament. Through a sculptural approach, the voice ventures into a haptic field of frequency and amplitude: a concrete voice. The voice is forced out, extruded from the 3D engine. Yet, the printed voice is mute.
